HSE&S Manager (Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability)

Location: North West

Salary: 40-50K

The HSE&S Manager will collaborate with a diverse team to ensure operational compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, standards, and RCM (Responsible Care Management System) criteria. The HSE&S Manager will be responsible for providing clear guidance on legislative impacts to site operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide clear guidance on legislative impacts affecting site operations.
  • Develop, implement, and manage risk management strategies and plans tailored to the site’s needs.
  • Keep the site management team informed of regulatory changes affecting site operations.
  • Oversee the HSE system to ensure effective risk control in capital and project activities.
  • Manage safety management systems (EMS, SMS, and PSM) to drive continual improvement.
  • Facilitate clear communication of policies and procedures to employees, promoting understanding and engagement.
  • Direct the site HSES (Health, Safety, Environment, and Security) audit program and serve as the primary contact with legislators on HSE matters.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with colleagues to ensure consistent implementation of corporate HSE programs at the site.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s (BSc) or Master’s (MSc) degree in Chemistry or Engineering.
  • Hold NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) diploma.
  • Extensive experience in the chemical industry or related field.
  • Proficiency in Process Hazard Analysis/HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Studies).
  • Proven track record of leading site management teams in developing and implementing safety programs targeting key risks.
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and auditing management systems, including ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and 45001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management System).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple initiatives/projects effectively.
